Edit Profile is getting a bit long. It might be a good idea to reformat this screen to make it easier to use... Especially for the forum subscriptions. That can make the edit profile screen quite long and cumbersome. Perhaps divide it up at the top and you choose the section you want to adjust (Subscriptions, Bio/Personal info etc and have it load another page for those (Rather than NAME tags and # jumping..).. Just an idea.
It may also be nice to change the way you choose which forums you subscribe to. The way it is currently set up could get VERY long if the site has a large number of forums.
Perhaps setup two scroll boxes: one for available forums, the other for subscribed forums. Then put Subscribe--> and <--UnSubscribe buttons in between the columns?
Well, that would mean going through and having to click submit for every board you want to subscribe or unsubscribe to, right? I would definitely like to clean up this area, but I am just unsure exactly how to do it.
Good idea Eileen, that would probably work well, and make it look a lot better. I am working on splitting up the edit profile section now, so hopefully by tommorow this will be done, and then I can get some feedback on the changes.
Actually, I was thinking that you could select multiple boards in the "Available" list, then click "Subscribe" and they would all move over to the "Subscribed" list. The same thing for the opposite direction. Select all the boards you want to unsubscribe and click "Unsubscribe".
Using CTRL-Click or SHIFT-Click would allow this.
I think this would be an exceptionally clean method of subscribing and unsubscribing. For an example, look at the Toolbar Customization dialog in IE5. It is pretty much what I'm talking about.
Wouldn't this feature only be functional on the later browsers? I don't want to add anything in that wouldn't allow users with older browsers to take advantage of.
I think this should be okay an any relatively modern browser. It would probably even work in Lynx, provided you don't use any Javascript. I have Lynx, but don't have anywhere to test it.
Essentially, each time the user clicks "Subscribe", it would refresh the page with the new changes (rerun the script with the new changes). Then when the user hits "OK", the changes would be made permanent. "Cancel" would allow them to back out completely without saving the changes.
I like the new edit profile, BUT, email column headers are not lined up with the columns, and one needs a way jumping to the other sections without submitting then opening edit profile again. Tried to "backup" then open another section got the good old ERROR 308 origanial page NOT FOUND..
