Modification Name: JavaScript Dropdown Boxes

Author(s): CTM

Description: Uses JavaScript to automatically redirect the user to the option he or she selected in the "Hop To" and "Show Topics From" dropdown boxes on the forum and topic pages (making the Go! buttons redundant), but if the user doesn't have JavaScript enabled, the Go! buttons can still be used.

Requirements: UBB.classic 6.6.0 or higher

Download Link: Contact privately

This is the logical successor of my JavaScript "Hop To" Box mod for 6.3, but this version gives instructions for doing the same to the DaysPrune box on forum pages. If I find any other dropdowns to add to the list, I'll update this mod with further instructions. Likewise, if you find any I haven't covered, please let me know and I'll add them. smile

Fixed, updated, reuploaded; thanks Ian smile

As a sidenote, anyone reading this topic who is using PCRF v3.0.0 should upgrade to v3.0.1 as soon as is humanly possible.

Actually it's not worth getting rid of the "Go!" button, since it still needs to be used to hop back to the active forum (onchange won't work any other way)...

Hmm, I seem to remember a javascript transision code for dropdowns that didn't require a button at all smirk

Hmm, I was hoping this would eliminate the Go button. This doesn't seem to do that, and it looks from what I read that I shouldn't want to eliminate the Go button anyway! Without eliminating the Go button, this code is really just an alternate way to replicate the drop down, but there's no other change, right?

I'd love to have a hop menu that always started with Select a Forum, so you would have to change to something else, but didn't have the Go button...

I'd have a plethora of users who accidently choose the wrong forum without having the opportunity to select one then "go" to it smile To each his own tho, my users are a little less internet savvy.

I hear you Allen. It wouldn't be my choice. I've already had this discussion - the users aren't that savvy. smile

Next question -- suppose I wanted to put this menu in the html insert??? I hadn't connected that would be a challenge once I figured out how to make it work! They want it to go in their left nav...

Sure, you could always hard/hand-code a drop-down menu smile
