Note that the modification also includes code for LK's "Spell Check" feature to be included in the Quick Reply pane just like below.

Hi,

I really like this hack, but before I install is it essential to do the wordlets hack as I cannot find it any where?

I felt kinda bad since I had installed all of these on 6.4 but never wrote down the changes I had to make...seems pretty selfish now.

lol, don't feel bad :x... I figured that since some people have issues with converting things that I'd just help them by publishing a copy for them smirk.

Okay, is it me, or is anyone else having trouble downloading the zips from Gizzy's site? help

I've tried with a couple of the files, and a dialogue box appears, but I don't see any evidence of a file transfer (i.e. it doesn't give me the option of saving the file to a specific location, etc.) frown

10 megabit connection, linux machine, 20 gig dedicated disk drive, shouldn't be a thing wrong with it. Did you select "Do not show a dialog for files of this type" on .zip files?

Nice port.

I did find an error in your install instructions. In the optional QuickReply w/ Quote instructions, you have "in: public_forum_page.pl" and this should be "public_topic_page.pl", as these lines aren't contained in forum_page.

Looking forward to more 6.4 ports, Gizzy!

tell me what you want ported wink ...

Ahh crap, file updated lol, when I do things I do them quickly so expect some minor errors...

Stupidboy.com, what are you doing in cp_common.pl? I don't recall this hack doing anything in the control panel... In either case, look for "wordlets_img" and add the cp_common line below it.

Re: vars_wordlets_mods

This:
# Find
foreach my $file (qw(

# Insert This Directly After It
wordlets_mods

Question:
Does the above mean,

A) Insert wordlets_mods directly after the ( character?

Or

B) Insert wordlets_mods directly after } # end foreach ?

Thanks,

the line in ubb_profile.cgi where you replace:
-value => [$user_profile[0], md5_hex($new_password), $public_name, $in{DaysPrune}, $in{u}, $pntf_hidden, $avhide,

needs to have a ] added to the end, like so:

-value => [$user_profile[0], md5_hex($new_password), $public_name, $in{DaysPrune}, $in{u}, $pntf_hidden, $avhide],

so it can be found... otherwise nice smile

the 'addunder' for the cookie4 line should be 'replace' I think smile

I hope the text file was correct because I just installed this puppy! laugh

Also, because I love Multihack, I created a Multihack file ... Allen or anyone else, if you want to test it out and make sure it works for you (it seems to be working for me), I'd appreciate it.

Because I installed the Calendar hack before I installed this, I did have to make an alteration to the directions provided by Gizzy.

Therefore, I've made two Multihack files ... one, for those of you who have installed the Calendar hack; the other, for those of you who have not.

http://adwoff.com/QuickReply64_calendar.mhp

http://adwoff.com/QuickReply64.mhp

I should also add that neither file takes into consideration the directions for the Spellcheck hack; I haven't installed that--don't know if I will. Thus, if you have the Spellcheck hack installed on your site, you'll have to manually change the public_topic_page.pl so that the Quick Reply hack works with that.

Okay ... I have had no problems installing this hack ... everything was going smoothly, except when I log out of my control panel and try to come back in ... I then get this message:

Quote
quote:
Hack attempt logged or corrupt/altered member file found with extra fields. ('00000002')
Any idea why this might happen?

More importantly, is there a way I can fix it without having to go back and upload clean files and starting over?

I know that the problem is with this hack because I logged in and out after I installed the previous hacks (calendar, smilie, and vars_word_mods)

I wonder if that has to do with the checkbox options in the public_edit_my_profile.pl? Try taking out the Quick Reply code in that file and see if you still get that error...If so then it needs to be re-hacked.

Because I like to install hacks manually I did not hack the profile and registry .pl files since I wanted everyone who is logged in to see the Quick Reply.

Hey PT, thanks for the advice ...

Before I do that, I wonder if this line isn't the culprit ...

-value => [$user_profile[0], md5_hex($new_password), $public_name, $in{DaysPrune}, $in{u}, $pntf_hidden, $avhide, "", "", "", $quickreply],

What would those three "", be for?

Nah...I hacked ubb_profile.cgi with that line and no errors.

In my experience the extra profile field errors are situated in the .pl files. When I was upgrading to 6.4 I got the extra member's field error. To resolve that I just uploaded my edited .pl files to complete the upgrade with no errors. I did most of my template and .cgi edits on a testing board and when I upgraded I uploaded all .pl, .cgi and some of the vars files. That way members are not burdened by the hacks. smile

PT,

I do all my hack work on my test board, too ... no way would I dare do it on the real deal! LOL

I'll edit the .pl file & see what happens. Thanks.

You modify ubb_lib_files.cgi in two places, look for $maxmemfields and make it equal to a higher number...I had to use 61.

PT,

Would you not hack the public_edit_profile.pl file at all, then?

I didn't add it to the mix when I re-did everything, and I'm still experiencing the same problem. It's kinda frustrating because when I install the hack, everything works the way it is designed to work; then I log out of the control panel and try to get back in, and I'm met with the "hack attempt" message.

I'm going to be out & about so I won't be able to look at this until Saturday at the earliest. I'd appreciate any feedback as to what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks.

those extra "" are exactly from the original file, as i said, i just port the stuff lol, ask the 6.0 author :x...

You need to add more fields to your profiles so that the bbs doesn't read it as a hack attempt, i don't recall which mod does this however...

I didn't hack either public_edit_profile.pl or public_register_page.pl and error free.

Even if you edit the ubb_lib_files.cgi but still get the profile field error undo the Quick Reply hack and see if that resolves your issue. Are you running any other hack that requires to add extra profile fields?

PT, thank you for helping out ... I think I found the problem.

In Gizzy's text file, I found these instructions for the ubb_new_topic.cgi file:

[code][/code]I change the "add under" to "replace", and I think this has solved the problem (without removing the mods from the template files).

I've tried signing in and out of the control panel, and so far so good.

I'll make the changes in the Multihack files I did and upload them again.

Thanks for all your help, everyone. It's appreciated.

Thing is, I copied the directions EXACTLY from the text instructions! tipsy

And I'm still experiencing issues with the hack deal. frown

I really thought I had it solved.

I'll have to go through things with a fine tooth comb again ... which, of course, is scary since I don't always know what I'm seeng! laugh

X, I did do that ...

In the ubb_lib_files.cgi, I replaced this code:

Code
[/code]with this code

[code]
twice.

Would the my $maxmemfields = 39; be in other files and need to be changed?

Hmm...For now take out all traces of the Quick Reply hack and see if you still get your errors. If you do then another hack or modification is interferring with your codes; if you don't then the problem lies in the Quick Reply.

This way any doubt will be resolved. Process of elimination is a lot better than going through the mess with a comb. wink

Not sure if this will help. Here are the files I modified for Quick Reply version 6.4 (ported):

vars_wordlets_mods.cgi
ubb_lib_files.cgi
ubb_lib_posting.cgi
ubb_new_topic.cgi
ubb_new_reply.cgi
ubb_profile.cgi
ubb_registration.cgi
ultimatebb.cgi

public_topic_page.pl

--------------

Files I did not modify:

public_edit_profile.pl
public_register_form.pl

I did not modify these files because I did not want to give the users the option to disable the Quick Reply.

hey Sue, in reading your posts... you've got a current or past mod installed that uses profile fields higher than what your current maxmem field # is set to... this quick reply mod uses 61, so maxmem is set to 61 for this mod. I forget which ones use higher numbers, check the 0000002 profile and see how many lines are being used.

And Gizzy, I am almost positive that cookie4 line in ubb_new_topic.cgi needs to be replaced, not added under smile

Um, Allen, where would I count these lines? laugh

In the actual profile? In the 00000002.cgi file?

I've tried using the newstrip.cgi file to "strip" previous hacks, but that file only goes up to 6.1X, and I wonder if it's missing stuff.

I don't know enough about the code to know.

Okay, with a little manipulation, I tried to install this into the 6.5.0 Beta 1 release.

There were a number of files changed in the 6.5.0 b1 release from 6.4.0+

These files include:
ubb_lib_files.cgi
ubb_new_reply.cgi
ubb_new_topic.cgi
ubb_profile.cgi
ubb_registration.cgi
ultimatebb.cgi

I had to manipulate some of the code to get it to work--and thought that I had actually done it--until I clicked on the "My Profile" link.

What happens then is it generates a plain, white screen. That's it. No text. No error message. Just a plain white screen.

I'm going to leave it up at my site for right now. It's at http://adwoff.com/ubb-test/cgi/ultimatebb.cgi

You can log-in under Damn Bug tipsy with the password of CVWG38 ... or you can register on your own. I did register successfully, so the issue is when I'm logged-in and I attempt to access my profile OR the directory.

If someone could point me in the right direction, I'd be most appreciative. smile

Ran into a couple of problems when I tried to install this on 6.5.

This part has been changed from 6.4 to 6.5

Code
#################
# Find: #
#################

$cookie4 = cookie(
-name => "ubber$vars_config{Cookie_Number}",
-value => [$this_profile[0], md5_hex($this_profile[1]), $this_profile[15], $this_profile[21], $user_number, $this_profile[35], (split(/|/, $this_profile[38]))[2]],
-path => '/',
-expires => '+2y'
);

#################
# Replace With: #
#################

$cookie4 = cookie(
-name => "ubber$vars_config{Cookie_Number}",
-value => [$this_profile[0], md5_hex($this_profile[1]), $this_profile[15], $this_profile[21], $user_number, $this_profile[35], (split(/|/, $this_profile[38]))[2], "", "", "", $this_profile[61]],
-path => '/',
-expires => '+2y'
);
It's now:

Code
$cookie4 = cookie(
-name => "ubber$vars_config{Cookie_Number}",
-value => [$this_profile[0], md5_hex($this_profile[1]), $this_profile[15], $this_profile[21], $user_number, ($this_profile[35] || 0), ((split(/|/, $this_profile[38]))[2] || 0), (split(/|^|/, $this_profile[39]))[1,2,0]],
-path => '/',
-expires => '+2y'
);
What should I replace it with as it is quite different to what it says in the txt file?

Or if anyone has updated the txt file to version 6.5 it would be greatly appreciated.

in the -value line, add in:
Code
, "", "", "", $this_profile[61]
BEFORE the ending occourance of:
Code
],
Why don't you bring your 6.5 questions to the 6.5 topic here ?

Quick question. How do I move the page links (1, 2, etc.) near the bottom of a thread to between the last post and the quick reply box?

Thanks smile

That's actually not a part of this modification, this modification is just the QR box, as the 1, 2, etc is in the base code. Your best bet is the forum design and integration section of UBBDev.

Ian is correct. Quick Reply was made a standard piece of coding in 6.7 and the "Full Reply Form" button was added. In the previous versions there was a blank button where full reply form is, thats where the spell check button went wink ...

Well i got a question for anybody out there that might know...

As far as i can recall the only mod i put on the board was this one. which I un-installed so i could upgrade to 6.7.

after the upgrade, non of the users can view the forums giving this error:

Hack attempt logged or corrupt/altered member file found with extra fields. ('00000263')

i've looked and the members files from a backup and I can't find anything different about them... any thoughts?

would you happen to have your backup from your previous version? If so, search for $maxmemfields in ubb_lib_files.cgi and write down that number.

Then, open up your 6.7 ubb_lib.cgi
FIND:
Code
	$vars_config{'MaxMemFields'} = 43; # maximum profile fields + 1. hard coded. That means it has to be changed here, Allen, not in vars_misc itself. ;)
Change that 43 to the number you wrote down

I thought it worked but it seems to have not...

should I try putting in any number in that area... 40 was the number in the backup file.

anything i should do after I change that number?

This number will be located in your old ubb_lib_files.cgi and should be entered into your ubb_lib.cgi as the location has changed.

If you haven't installed any modifications yet, you can use the field stipper available at UBB.Central.

Please note that these are not errors with this modification, they are errors from too many profile fields for a stock install of UBB.Classic.

:nod:

Note for anyone who's runnin this mod on 6.5 and before, this mod is final, as the mod has been integrated into 6.6+ it is no longer maintained by it's porter.

The previous "error" was due to too many extra profile fields in the memberdata after an upgrade, which are hardcoded in the board config. This "error" had nothing to do with the stability of this modification.
