I am about to upgrade from 6.03 to 6.05, but I don't want to lose any info from my forums right now. How do I go about doing this?

Also, I want to keep my site very plain so that the fanart posted stands out, but I think I'd like a couple of hacks to spice things up a little with interactivity (I'm not trying to change the look, I really like its simplicity and color scheme). What hacks should I use?

Please read the UBB 6.05 official announcement in the UBB News forum at the Infopop site . That announcement contains the instructions on how to upgrade from 6.03 to 6.05.

To your next question, it all depends on your site content. Since your site appears to be based on Gundam Wing I would recommend the Avatar hack and probably the custom titles or expanded titles hack. You may also want to consider adding the who's online hack. I probably wouldn't venture much beyond those three for now.
