after looking it over while adding hacks the thought came to mind. the possiblitity of making a ubb entirely from

tags <div>tags amd css could happen. Given enough time one could convert the entire ubb to fit css. It was just a thought and i figured it should go here since this is the css forum. anyway. if anybody has done it or is in the process of doing it how did it go.

Taking full advantage of Cascading Style Sheets with the UBB is our next goal here. <img src="smile.gif" border="0" alt="" />

Only if you're still using Nav4. This is a technology site, so if people don't have the latest browsers, it's time to upgrade to web standards. <img src="wink.gif" border="0" alt="" />

that cool matt. the use of div tags instead of tables will should blow othe BBs out of the water considering the scalibility of using css and div tags

i infact use just

tags <div>tags and css to make my site.i think i might try and work on making a forum summarypage of ubb for my own use and if it work right i will post a template or hack here

I was actually planning on keeping the tables. <img src="wink.gif" border="0" alt="" />

I cleaned out all the font-tags in the templates on my testboard and now use CSS only. It actually looks a lot better, and it's much easier to control and change different parts of the text <img src="smile.gif" border="0" alt="" />

It shouldn't look any different just for not having <font> elements in it. <img src="confused.gif" border="0" alt="" />

And there is a difference between the sizes you can use with CSS and the ones used for html. For example, I think font-size:11px looks better than size="2" or size="1"

I would recommend against specifying absolute font sizes in CSS for several reasons. First, it takes control away from the users because they can't make the font size larger or smaller, even if they wanted to. Second, font sizes render differently on Windows and Macs. What appears fine on a Windows machine may be unreadable on a Mac because of the monitor's DPI shift.

Just don't do it. <img src="smile.gif" border="0" alt="" />
