This is what i wanted .... but when you go to a thread the left navigation is being dragged down as well .... why is that so?

No offence, but it all looks sort of screwed over. Use this HTML as directed:

In your header:

<table border=0 cellspacing=15 cellpadding=0 width=100%>
<tr><td><insert your html header here></td></tr>
<tr><td><insert your html side nav here></td>
<td width=100% valign="top">

In your footer:

</td></tr></table>

That should work fine, as I think it used the same on my message board.
