I was wondering if you could tell me how i would go about removing the bulletin board name but still keep the link you see in the forums to take you back to the homepage of the board

Replace the forum logo with a 1x1 transparent pixel. This is the easiest way to to it. UBBDev does this.

i didn't mean that, i was taking about the bit which is text that says what the message board is called and it is just above the my profile part, i was wanting to know how to get rid of this

Find and delete:
<FONT size="3" face="$vars_style{FontFace}" color="$vars_style{BBTitleFontColor}">$vars_config{BBName}</FONT></B>
from several of the public_* templates. I don't recall which ones right offhand, but there are about a dozen of them that have it in them. It should be close to the top in all of them.
