Interview By: Greg Hard
We've got into the BRAIN behind invoid.net, this months second place winner!
UBBDEV: How did you brainstorm the idea behind invoid?
Konstantin: I once was a moderator in a web-based game, and I liked it so much I got me a UBB, then I borrowed some of the active posters in the game and my community grew.
UBBDEV: What was your reason for choosing UBB for your site?
Konstantin: A friend of mine was using it, and he told me how good it was so I decided to try it out.
UBBDEV: Amd or Intel? Do you care?
Konstantin: Of all the machines I've used, the ones with Amd seem to work faster when I try to make graphics or play games. I've also read some magazines and I've seen them compare both, and Amd was a winner
UBBDEV: What do you do to keep your site “fresh” and keep the users coming back for more?
Konstantin: I keep changing the colors of the board and people seem to like it. I also listed to suggestions of other people that encourage more people to join, like creating specific boards, that was more and more people join everyday.
UBBDEV: What do you like and dislike most about the UBB
Konstantin: The thing I most dislike is that soon after I finish adding all sorts of hacks to my board, another UBB version comes out. Sure, it keeps me busy, but sometimes it gets too annoying.
What I like about it is that its easy to customize, you can make the board look like you want it to look.
UBBDEV: What is the one must have UBB mod you like best?
Konstantin: I think it has always been the WOL mod. I remember using it since the first board I got, and I just love spying on the members/visitors
UBBDEV: What are your users favorite mods?
Konstantin: I think the Hypercells and RPG stats. The PRG stats encourage them to post more, to see their stats better than other people's.
UBBDEV: Are there any "tricks of the trade" you can share with us, so other UBBers can benefit from your experience?
Konstantin: Be sure to read well the hack instructions, otherwise you will be rehacking it 5 or more times without luck
UBBDEV: What’s your favorite cheese?
Konstantin: I like mozzarella, melted...
UBBDEV: What are your future plans for invoid?
Konstantin: After UBB6.2 is released, I plan to reinstall the board, and try to edit the templates to give it an unique look, different from what you might have seen before. It will be a lot of work, but I'll get there!
Konstantin: I'd also like to thank UBBDev for this award, without your site I would have no hacks installed and no help at all, and my board would be nowhere without you guys!
UBBDEV: Thank you for your time, and congratulations!
